Financing FAQ’s

Who is eligible to borrow through LightStream?
The applicant must be a U.S. resident, at least 18 years of age, and have good to excellent credit.
How is LightStream different from other options?
With LightStream, borrowers can keep their savings and continue earning interest on it. LightStream does not require home equity and does not charge fees or prepayment penalties. In addition, LightStream’s rates are fixed and often much lower than a credit card.
How do I know I’m getting a competitive rate?
LightStream’s Rate Beat Program3 guarantees a rate .10 percentage points lower than the rate offered by a competing lender.
Does LightStream allow for joint applications?
Yes. Joint applications are encouraged to apply.
Are there any fees?
No. LightStream does not charge any fees.

1 After receiving your loan from us, if you are not completely satisfied with your experience, please contact us. We will email you a questionnaire so we can improve our services. When we receive your completed questionnaire, we will send you $100. Our guarantee expires 30 days after you receive your loan. We reserve the right to change or discontinue our guarantee at any time. Limited to one $100 payment per funded loan. Truist teammates do not qualify for the Loan Experience Guarantee.

2 You can fund your loan today if today is a banking business day, the application is approved, and they complete the following steps by 2:30 p.m. Eastern time: (1) review and electronically sign their loan agreement; (2) provide LightStream with their funding preferences and relevant banking information; and (3) complete the final verification process.

3 LightStream will offer a rate .10 percentage points lower than the rate offered on any competing lender’s unsecured loan provided that you were approved for that lower rate (with the same loan terms offered by LightStream) no later than 2 p.m. Eastern time two business days prior to loan funding. The Rate Beat Program excludes secured or collateralized loan offers from any lender, and the competitive offer must be available to any customer with a similar credit profile. Terms are subject to change at any time.

If you believe you have been approved by another lender for a lower qualifying rate, contact LightStream customer service. We will work with you to determine your Rate Beat eligibility and obtain the necessary documentation.
